What is Yoga Nidra?

Yoga Nidra is Sanskrit for Yoga Sleep, or the Sleep of Union. Yoga Nidra is an ancient meditation practice that harnesses the body's biological process of sleep for multidimensional healing and soul awakening. In the sleep cycles, dis-identification from thoughts arises naturally. The biology of our body has built in systems to guide us outside of our mind. In Yoga Nidra, we practice reactivating these pathways within us while staying conscious, so we can arrive in the deepest restorative and meditative states.

Yoga Nidra isn't about doing more -- it is a path of doing less. Doing can only happen at the level of mind. In Yoga Nidra, we rest in non-doing to enter altered states of consciousness that engender healing and transformation. By continuously entering and resting in the spaces beyond mind -as awareness, as consciousness itself- we remember the essence of our Nature as wholeness, love, and peace. This spiritual remembrance reinforms our mind and body- carrying the intelligence to reharmonize ourselves physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.

This practices creates the optimal inner environment for healing of the body, a letting go of unserving patterns and beliefs, integration of past experiences, and access to our intuition and innate wisdom. Yoga Nidra wakes us up - by going to sleep.

Your Instructor: Shayna Muller

Shayna is a passionate teacher and forever inspired student of Yoga Nidra. Shayna is certified in the Integrative Amrit Method Of Yoga Nidra™, as well as trained in Swami Satyananda Saraswati’s tradition of Yoga Nidra from the Bihar School of Yoga. Shayna became fascinated with Yoga Nidra after her very first session left her utterly speechless. Her meditation unveiled parts of herself that she didn’t realize were hanging in the background of her consciousness. It felt as if she was sorting through energetic imprints of past experiences and how they have manifested into her body and mind. What the most powerful part of her experience was is that she was looking into this deep inner world not from a place of judgement or conditioned reaction, but more-so as an awareness that was witnessing it and sorting through. There was a neutral space between what was being witnessed and the witness itself. This continued experience in her meditations has helped her see her self and her life through a new lens, and ultimately led her to wanting to explore more of what’s accessible in altered states of consciousness through Yoga Nidra.

The felt experience of dis-identification with the mind revealed to Shayna the deepest truths that ancient Yogic philosophy points to. Being able to experientially feel this distinction of the Seer and Seen - has inspired a devotional path to establish a more compassionate relationship to thoughts and emotions, a broader lens to view life’s challenges through, and ultimately a desire to reside in our primordial nature.

As a teacher, Shayna is heart-driven to create a healing space for her community to experience true rest and a realization of our innate wholeness. There is a deep reservoir of peace within us that is always accesible — no matter what the drama of our lives is portraying. Everybody deserves to feel this and know it is there and it is possible to connect to — even amidst the chaos of the human experience. This isn’t another thing we need “to-do”, but more so a permission to stop doing and explore whats here in the embrace of Presence. What we are all innately searching for is already HERE, right now. Yoga Nidra will effortlessly guide you back home to yourself, and ultimately your inseparable connection within all of the cosmos.
